Wadena County Jail Roster
Wadena County publishes current local custody information through the sheriff's In-Custody List landing page, which links to the direct Wadena County Jail in-custody report. The report is a Crystal Reports output, not a modern database form. It shows a dated list of people currently reported in the Wadena County Detention Facility. The header says the information attempts to update every 24 hours and warns that the Wadena County Sheriff's Office cannot represent that it is current, accurate, or complete.
That warning matters for same-day arrests, transfers, sentence completions, and holds. A person may be booked before the public report refreshes, or may leave the Wadena County jail system before the next report cycle. The county roster covers local jail custody, including pretrial detainees, local sentenced inmates, work release, sentence-to-serve, and some holds. It is not the Minnesota Department of Corrections prison locator, not a federal Bureau of Prisons search, and not the ICE detainee locator.
The county in-custody landing page is the official source shown in the successful screenshot below. The source is the Wadena County Sheriff's Office In-Custody List page.
The image shows why the landing page is only the first step. The custody details appear in the linked report, while the landing page confirms the county route to the Wadena County jail roster.
Use Wadena County Inmate Records
The Wadena County roster does not accept a typed query. There is no name field, date range, booking number field, facility filter, search button, reset button, or profile click-through found in the research. The practical search method is to open the report and use browser find for a last name. On a phone, the same fixed report layout can require zooming before the text and photo area are easy to read.
- Open the county In-Custody List landing page and follow the linked Wadena County Jail report.
- Check the report date and time at the top before relying on the result.
- Use Ctrl+F, Command+F, or the mobile browser find-in-page command for the last name.
- Read the booking date, name, charges, status, sentence date, and projected release date fields when present.
- If the person is missing, call the jail, check VINELink, and consider whether the person moved to DOC, federal, ICE, or another county custody source.
- Use the Wadena County Sheriff's Office Data Request Form for booking data, photos, reports, or audio not shown on the current report.
No Wadena County Sheriff's Office mobile app was found for jail roster search. The City of Wadena advertises general city app badges, but the research did not find an app-only inmate roster, warrant search, mugshot gallery, or sheriff records portal.
Wadena County Roster Fields
The Wadena County inmate records search field table is short because the county roster is a static report. This is still useful for readers: if a person expects a searchable booking portal, the lack of fields explains why browser find and fallback channels are necessary. The report was public, free, and did not require a login in the research file.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Search fields | None | Not applicable | The roster is a static Crystal Reports custody list, not a search form. |
| Browser Find | Browser function | Optional | Use find-in-page by last name because no roster search field is provided. |
| Report date/time | Display text | Not applicable | The report shows a timestamp in month/day/year and time format. |
| Buttons | None | Not applicable | No Search, Submit, Reset, filter, export, or pagination controls were observed. |
| Refresh notice | Display text | Not applicable | The header says the report attempts to update every 24 hours and may not be current, accurate, or complete. |
Note: A missing name on the Wadena County report is not proof that the person was never arrested or has been released.
Wadena County Inmate Profile Details
Each Wadena County jail entry is closer to a report block than a separate inmate profile. The public output inspected in the research included a photo area, booking date and time, name, report list number, charge labels, and status labels. Some entries may also show a sentence start date or a projected release date. The report did not show several fields that many larger jail systems publish, such as housing unit, date of birth, physical descriptors, court file number, booking number, or a separate bond amount.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Booking date/time | When the person was booked into Wadena County Jail. |
| Mugshot | A current booking photo shown while the person is listed on the public report. |
| Name | Name in last, first, middle order. |
| Charges | Plain-English charge descriptions, usually without statute numbers in the inspected output. |
| Status | Custody or charge status such as Bail Set, Sentenced, Sent Complete, or Hold for Another Agency. |
| Sentence start date | Start date for sentenced custody when the report publishes one. |
| Projected release date | Expected release date when the jail publishes one, subject to change. |
| Arresting agency | The label appears, but the value may be blank or not visible for some entries. |
Booking charges are not always the final court charges. For the court side after a booking, Wadena County users may also need court records after jail arrest once a case is filed.

The data request process is important because the roster is current-custody focused. The Sheriff's Office says it maintains its own agency records only, while Menahga, Sebeka, Verndale, and Wadena Police Departments maintain their own reports. If the requested data is not public or is not held by WCSO, the office says it will explain the issue. Inspection is free, copies under 10 pages are free, copies are $2.00 per 10 pages after that, photos on CD are $10.00, and audio on DVD is $15.00.
The Wadena County Sheriff's Office data request page is another successful manifest source. The screenshot comes from the official WCSO Data Requests page.
This records channel is the official fallback for copies, booking photos, incident records, calls for service, transcripts, and accident reports that are not answered by the current roster.
Wadena County Booking Intake
Booking at the Wadena County jail includes more than the public report shows. Minnesota jail standards cited in the research describe intake as the process for identifying the legal basis for confinement, searching the person and possessions, storing property, completing medical and mental-health screening, photographing and fingerprinting, gathering identity information, and assigning initial classification and housing. The public report confirms the booking date and time and the booking photo, but it does not publish every internal intake field.
A new Wadena County booking may not appear right away because the report attempts to update about every 24 hours. A same-day arrest, medical hold, court transfer, another-agency hold, or release before the next report can make the roster lag behind real custody status. For urgent confirmation, the jail phone line is more direct than waiting for the next public report update.
- Booking
- The jail intake event that records arrest and custody information.
- Hold for another agency
- A custody status based on another jurisdiction or agency request that may block release.
- Work release
- A custody arrangement that may allow approved employment outside the facility.
- Sentence to serve
- Local sentence or program terminology for serving a sentence through jail or community work.
Wadena County Jail Visits
Wadena County Detention Facility visitation is short and session based. The county states that inmates are allowed one visit per visitation session for 20 minutes. Visitors must bring photo identification. Visitors under 18 must be accompanied by an adult and may visit only immediate family. Visits can be denied or stopped for cell phone use, eating or drinking in the visitation area, intoxication, false ID information, inappropriate dress or conduct, disruption, safety risk, or failure to follow staff directions.
| Day | Jail visitation hours | Type |
|---|---|---|
| Monday | None | In-person public visits not scheduled |
| Tuesday | 7:30-9:00 p.m. | In-person session |
| Wednesday | 3:00-5:00 p.m. | In-person session |
| Thursday | 3:00-5:00 p.m. and 7:30-9:00 p.m. | In-person sessions |
| Friday | None | In-person public visits not scheduled |
| Saturday | 7:30-9:00 p.m. | In-person session |
| Sunday | 7:30-9:00 p.m. | In-person session |
The county also lists CIDNET for video visitation and for sending pictures or email, Reliance Telephone for phone and texting time, and JailATM for commissary purchases and deposits. Published county sources did not provide detailed vendor fee schedules, so confirm cost and account rules with the vendor or jail before sending funds.
Wadena County Custody Sources
When a Wadena County inmate record is not found locally, the next source depends on the custody path. The Minnesota Department of Corrections public viewer covers adults committed to the Commissioner of Corrections who remain under DOC jurisdiction, including people in prison or released from prison and still on supervision. Newly sentenced people can take several business days to appear. No state prison is located in Wadena County, so DOC custody is statewide rather than a second local jail.
| Custody path | Where to look | Important limit |
|---|---|---|
| Current county jail | Wadena County in-custody report | Static report, no search fields, attempts 24-hour updates. |
| Custody notifications | Minnesota VINELink | Useful for jail custody changes, release, and transfer notices. |
| Sentenced state prison | Minnesota DOC Locator | For adults under DOC jurisdiction, not county pretrial custody. |
| Federal inmate | BOP Inmate Locator | Mainly federal inmates from 1982 to present after BOP commitment. |
| Immigration detention | ICE Online Detainee Locator | Requires A-number/country or name/country/date of birth. |
Federal pretrial custody can be hard to trace through normal county or BOP tools. The U.S. Marshals Service District of Minnesota covers Wadena County and may house federal defendants in contract or local facilities before BOP commitment. A Wadena County roster entry that disappears after a federal hold should be checked through federal case or counsel channels rather than treated as a confirmed release.
Note: Confirm current custody with the jail before sending money, scheduling a visit, or relying on a projected release date.
